The criminals found a way to use Pokemon GO to attract unwitting victims. The O'Fallon Police Department in Missouri has responded to early reports this morning that a group of Pokemon GO players were carjacked.

According to the report, the thieves used Lure modules to attract players to a nearby PokeStop and robbed them at gunpoint. Lure modules can be attached to a location in the game to draw Pokemon for all players. Fortunately, the suspects were arrested later by police and are believed to be behind several other robberies.

full press release from the PD O'Mallon is below:

Obviously, players should be cautious when reading Pokemon GO , especially at night. Although Lure modules are supposed to encourage players to come together and meet, players are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and to think before traveling to an unknown location. After all, Lure Modules can be seen by everyone, so they can attract more than Pokemon.
